The university was actually established in 1982, but its roots go back to 1883. It is one of the most famous and largest Turkish public universities located in the Asian part of the city of Istanbul in Turkey. Marmara University is accredited by the Turkish Ministry of Higher Education, and the YÖS test is required for admission to the university.
