It is a public university that was founded in 1978 under the name of Kayseri University. In 1969, the Faculty of Medicine associated with Hajcetepe University was established, and in 1977 the Faculty of Business Administration was established. The Islamic Institute in Kayseri was transformed in 1967 into the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion and Sharia, and the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion and Sharia was also established. The Academy of Architecture, established in 1977, was transformed into the Faculty of Engineering, and the university began providing its services under the name of Arciyes University in 1988. The university was named after Mount Arciyes.
