The basic nucleus of the university is the Mugla Institute of Business Administration, established in 1975, which was affiliated with the Faculty of Economics at Ankara University. The position of University President is held by Dr. Professor Mansur Harmanda and his assistants, Mr. Professor Dr. Yusuf Ziya Erdil, Dr. Professor Nurs Hurriyet Aydogan, and Dr. Professor Bayram Ekça.
