One of the institutions that received a name that denotes these civilizations is the Furat University, which bears one of the two rivers that embraced these ancient civilizations for long periods. The founding stone of the Furat University dates back to the year 1967, when the Institute of Higher Technical Education was opened for the first time in the city of Al-Azzi. After that, the government issued a decree in 1969. Resolution No. 1184 to establish the Academy of Engineering and Architecture and in 1970 the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was established and affiliated to Ankara University.
