The University of Ege “Ege üniversitesi” was founded in the city of “Izmir” in 1956 AD, and at first it included only two faculties, which were the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Agriculture, until in 1982 AD the university included 17 faculties and 7 institutes, becoming one of the largest Turkish universities. It has become a focal point for education, research, cultural and social activities in the city of Izmir and the Aegean region.
