Istanbul Technical University ITÜ is one of the oldest public universities in Turkey. It was established during the reign of the Ottoman Sultan Mustafa III in the year 1773 under the name of the Royal School of Marine Engineering and training in shipbuilding and cartography until it began to expand its field and teach aeronautical and space engineering. It is distinguished by being one of 5 universities that teach these specializations, and it also specialized in the field of architecture until it was named the “Engineering Academy.”
