Yeditepe University was founded in 1996 by the Istanbul Education and Culture Foundation (ISTEK). The university offers contemporary sciences and education based on the principles of Ataturk, Renaissance and community service. Yeditepe University includes about 77 university programs for bachelor's students, 82 programs for master's students, and 43 for doctoral students.

The university is distinguished by its undergraduate medical specializations, such as human medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy.
