The Middle East Technical University is one of the most important and best Turkish public universities. It was founded in the capital, Ankara, in 1956 during the era of Turkish President Adnan Menderes. Another branch of the university was established in Cyprus in 2003.
The campus also contains shopping areas, banks, a post office, as well as many places to eat, and it also provides many sports facilities.
